Survey Scoring

Survey responses are reported using a scoring mechanism. Each response within an answer group will be allocated a number which then feeds into the reporting.

Answer group answers can have a favourable score (e.g. strongly agree or agree), a neutral score (e.g. neither agree nor disagree) and unfavourable scores (e.g. disagree or strongly disagree). You can assign your answer groups a negative value so that unfavourable scores are worth negative amounts, or you can set up answer groups to all have positive values. Your survey responses will be impacted depending on which you choose.

For more information about answer groups, read the following article: Answer Groups.

Understanding your scores

You can view survey response scores by going to Culture > Survey Responses > click on a survey  > Insights.

This page will show you the results of your survey, based on employee answers.

Survey Score

The Survey Score takes the number of favourable responses and divides them by the maximum score for the survey. Neutrals and unfavourable do not contribute to this score.

The maximum score for the surveys = highest scoring answer x number of topics x employees.

For example, using an answer scale where the highest answer is +2, a survey with 15 topics sent to 25 employees, the maximum score would be 750.

Out of the 375 topic answers (15 topics for 25 employees), 30 of them were unfavourable and neutral. Leaving 345 favourable responses.

Of these favourable responses, 175 were given the most favourable answer (+2) and 170 were given the second most favourable answer (+1).

The total score for this survey would be 520 out of a possible 750, giving a survey score percentage of 69%.

Topic Scores

Each topic is given a score based on the number of positive responses for each answer group. Neutrals and negatives do not contribute to this score. The score percentage is the total score divided by the number of responses.
